An image display device (1) is provided with a liquid crystal display (10) having a display panel (11); a case (12); and a plurality of heat pipes (13). The case (12) has a hermetically sealing section (121) and ventilation paths (122, 123) formed on the case. The hermetically sealing section (121) permits a display screen of the display panel (11) to be visible from the external, while hermetically sealing the circumference of the display panel (11) and confining the display panel inside. The ventilation paths (122, 123) are arranged on an outer side of the hermetically sealing section (121) and in communication with the external of the case (12). The heat pipes (13) extend from a rear surface (111) of the display panel (11) into the ventilation paths (122, 123).
