The device has a load accommodating unit (29) arranged beneath a carrier unit (2) e.g. trolley, and a drive unit (14) i.e. pantograph drive, connected with the load accommodating unit and the carrier unit. The drive unit limits mobility of the accommodating unit on displacement parallel to the carrier unit. Linear positioning elements (32, 33) i.e. servo cylinders, are pivotally connected with the carrier unit and the accommodating unit at upper and lower ends of the elements by upper and lower pivots (34-37), respectively. The upper pivots are spaced from each other.
