<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scroll fluid machine rapidly adjusting back pressure to an appropriate value when the back pressure is high, in an orbiting pressing auxiliary member and an auxiliary member seal which are provided as countermeasures when the back pressure is low. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This scroll fluid machine includes: a fixed scroll member; an orbiting scroll member forming a compression chamber in cooperation with the fixed scroll member; a back pressure chamber; a back pressure control means controlling pressure in the back pressure chamber; the orbiting pressing auxiliary member provided oppositely to the back of the orbiting scroll member and axially movable; an auxiliary member back chamber positioned on the opposite side of the orbiting scroll member with respect to the orbiting pressing auxiliary member and to which discharge pressure is introduced; and the auxiliary member seal isolating the auxiliary member back chamber from the back pressure chamber and axially moved so that the orbiting pressing auxiliary member is pressed to the side of the orbiting scroll member by the discharge pressure in the auxiliary member back chamber.
