A one handed operated lancing device (100) includes a main body (102) configured from a lower housing (106) and an upper housing (104) extending over a portion of the lower housing (106) and an endcap (110). An actuator (108) is operatively engaged to the upper and lower housing (104, 106) with the actuator (108) extending along the portion of the lower housing (106) not covered by the upper housing (104). An actuator button (116) is including in the upper housing (104) such that movement of the actuator (108) from a first position to a second position away from said endcap (110) cocks the lancet (200) for firing, which is achieved by depressing the actuator button (116).
