The device has a decentralized control unit connected with a central control unit (1) such that information and/or control signal is exchanged between the control units. The control unit (1) comprises a receiver (6) that is arranged to accommodate an activation element (7) e.g. transponder. The control unit (1) determines predetermined control signal at the decentralized control unit in dependence of existence of the activating element in the recess. The control unit (1) comprises a sensor that is operated based on radio frequency identification technology. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a housing installation.
