PURPOSE: A mobile terminal and a display control method thereof are provided to control the background transparency of a transparent display according to peripheral luminous intensity. CONSTITUTION: A sensing unit(140) senses a peripheral environment. A controller(180) changes the transparency of a transparent display according to the sensed result, divides the information displayed on the transparent display into a background and an object, controls the transparency of one or more objects according to the detected surrounding environment, and then senses the peripheral luminous, peripheral color and time zone as the surrounding environment information.
