PURPOSE: A power train of an automatic transmission is provided to improve dynamic power transfer performance by increasing the number of transmission steps and thus using dynamic power of an engine efficiently. CONSTITUTION: A power train of an automatic transmission comprises a first and a second planetary gear set. The first planetary gear set has a first, a second and a third operation member. The first operation member is selectively fixed to an input shaft(10) and a transmission case(30). The second operation member is selectively connected to the transmission case. The third operation member is fixed to an output shaft(20). The second planet gear set has a fourth, a fifth and a sixth operation member. The fourth operation member is fixed to the input shaft. The sixth operation member is fixed to the second operation member. The power train of the automatic transmission further includes a third planetary gear set and friction members. The third planetary gear set has a seventh, an eighth and a ninth operation member. The seventh operation member is connected to the transmission case. The eighth operation member is selectively connected to the third operation member. The ninth operation member is connected to the fifth operation member. The friction members connects the operation members of the first, the second and the third planetary gear set to the input shaft, other operation members, the transmission case or the output shaft.
