PURPOSE: A backlight assembly and a display device having the same reducing light absorption volume are provided to improve optical usage efficiency by reducing the light absorption by a reflecting mirror. CONSTITUTION: An LGP(Light Guide Plate) comprises a side and an upper side connected to the side. A light source module comprises a power source transmission member(33) and a plurality of point source of lights(31). Point source lights are mounted in the power source transmission member. The light emitting unit of point source of lights is arranged to be contiguous opposite to the side. An optical sheet(51) is arranged on the upper side and is contiguous to the light emitting unit.
