PURPOSE: A method for driving a light emitting block, a backlight assembly for performing the same, and a display device having the same are provided to precisely drive light emitting blocks by controlling currents applied to the light emitting blocks. CONSTITUTION: A method for driving a light emitting block includes a sensing step and a driving step. Currents applied to light emitting blocks are sensed in the sensing step. The light emitting blocks are arranged into M x N matrix shape. Each row is connected to a row switching part. Each column is connected to a column switching part. The light emitting blocks are driven with a local dimming mode by controlling the currents in the driving step. A backlight assembly includes a light emitting substrate(140), a switching substrate(120), and a light emitting control substrate.
