PURPOSE: An audio/video signal processing apparatus using a CPLD(Complex Programmable Logic Device) chip and a method thereof are provided to process audio/video signals inputted from sources using the CPLD chip, thereby outputting the audio/video signals through output ports. CONSTITUTION: An A/D converter(130) converts analog audio/video signals inputted through an analog input and output port into digital audio/video signals. An audio/video codec chip(150) compresses or decompresses the inputted digital audio/video signals. A D/A converter(140) converts the digital audio/video signals into analog audio/video signals. A CPLD chip(160) outputs the input digital audio/video signals to one of the D/A converter, a digital input and output port and an audio/video codec chip according to switching mode.
