PURPOSE: A device for coating tapes on the outer surface of a steel pipe and a coating method using the same are provided to minimize the coating inferiority by attaching the tapes uniformly while moving the device along the circumference of the steel pipe. CONSTITUTION: A device for coating tapes on the outer surface of a steel pipe comprises a tape coating body(20), a magnetic member(30) and a tape feeder(40). Multiple wheels(22) are formed on the lower part of the tape coating body. The tape coating body moves along the circumference of a steel pipe(1). The magnetic member is located on the tape coating body or the wheel. The magnetic member generates the magnetic force to the steel pipe. The magnetic member moves the wheel without separating from the steel pipe. The tape feeder is formed in the tape coating body. The tape feeder supplies a coating tape(T) wound in the circumference of the steel pipe.
