PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endless flexible member composed of a resin material, wherein the occurrence of distortion causing deterioration in tight contactness with a recording material is prevented and the durability is enhanced. SOLUTION: The endless long and narrow flexible member 13 for use in the image heating device for heating an image (t) carried by the recording material P includes: a base layer 13a composed of a resin material; and a mold release layer 13b composed of a resin material and disposed on the base layer. The thickness of the endless long and narrow flexible member is in the range of 20μm to 100μm, the outside diameter of the flexible member is in the range of 15 mm to 45 mm. As an index showing the rigidity, the load direction distortionγT when a load (0.7gf/mm) is imparted by a sheet-like loading member 30 on the whole longitudinal surface of the flexible member in a diametral direction of the flexible member is set as≥0.70. As an index showing the bending strength, an MIT test according to JIS-P8115 is carried out using a test piece cut from the flexible member, then, the number of bending times (bending endurance limit) before breakage is set as≥4,000.
