[PROBLEMS] To provide a thermal printer in which an upper lid and a print unit can be opened by a series of works, and the upper lid is not closed even if a force acts in the closing direction for the print unit when an ink ribbon is replaced. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] A thermal printer is provided with an upper lid stopper (34) for supporting an upper lid (30) at a predetermined position for a main body (20) and releasing support of the upper lid (30) when the upper lid (30) is closed; a unit stopper (44) for supporting a print unit (40) with a smaller angle than the upper lid (30) for the main body (20) and releasing support of the print unit (40) when the print unit (40) is closed; and a member (35) for coupling the upper lid (30) and the print unit (40) under a state where the print unit (40) is fitted in the upper lid (30). The upper lid (30) is coupled with the print unit (40) by the coupling member (35) under a state where the upper lid (30) and the print unit (40) are closed.
