PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarization-entangled photon pair generating apparatus which is useful as a light source of a quantum encryption key distribution system, includes high photon pair generation efficiency, does not need procurement of special parts, and requires little time and labor for the adjustment and control of the generating apparatus. SOLUTION: This polarization-entangled photon generator optically connects in cascades one type-I nonlinear optical crystal and a polarized beam splitter which are arranged appropriately, and generates a polarization-entangled photon pair by using a simple constitution. The generating apparatus also includes devices for its adjustment and confirmation of generation of entangled photon pairs. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
