PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode for electrical discharge surface treatment which can stabilize the characteristic of a coating film and the film deposition rate by suppressing the dispersion of the resistance of the electrode by performing the surface treatment by the electrode having less distribution in composition and physical properties in the electrode itself.

SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the electrode for electrical discharge surface treatment, which is composed of green compact by compacting metal powder, comprises: a first step of forming a nitride coating film by nitriding the surface of the metal powder; and a second step of forming green compact by compacting metal powder with its surface being nitrided.
