PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a permanent magnet-type rotary electric machine performing optimization for obtaining high torque with a small amount of magnets, saving resources and reducing cost for obtaining desired torque. SOLUTION: A rotor 4 includes a plurality of slots 13 formed in a rotor core 12 by making them pass through an axial direction and the permanent magnets 14 inserted into the slots 13 so that adjacent magnetic poles 11 in a circumferential direction have opposite polarity, and the permanent magnet-type rotary electric machine is constituted. Each magnetic pole 11 has a structure where a pair of slots 13 are arranged in a V shape toward a rotation central axis. When a radius of the rotor 4 is set to be α, radial direction distance embedding depth from an outer peripheral face of the rotor 4 to an inner peripheral side apex of a pair of the slots to be β and an outer peripheral side opening angle of a pair of the slots to be θ, an optimum arrangement index γ with which torque is made maximum is decided based on an embedding depth rate (β/α) and an opening angle rate (θ/180) of the outer peripheral side opening angle. Embedding depth β, and the radius α and the outer peripheral side opening angle θ of the rotor are set so that the decided optimum arrangement index γ is obtained. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
