<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hanger device with a suspension rod whose end is vertically movable and height can be changeable and a closet having the hanger device inside. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The hanger device includes a suspension rod which is capable of suspending a plurality of suspended matters in the longitudinal direction and is configured so as to be vertically oscillatable between a storing state wherein the rod is extended in an obliquely lower side in front of the wall body or an obliquely upper side in front and a rising state wherein the rod is almost horizontally extended forward the wall body, a retaining member to retain the rising posture of the suspension rod by oscillatably joining one end to the suspension rod and retaining the other end to the wall body side, and a height control mechanism to make the suspension rod riseable at an arbitrary height. The height control mechanism has an upper sliding body oscillatably pivoting the base end of the suspension rod and configured slidable in the vertical direction and a lower sliding body oscillatably pivoting the other end of the retaining member and configured vertically slidable under the upper sliding body.
