The connector has contact elements (12a, 12b) attached to contact holders (10, 11) having magnet elements (14) made from a magnetic or magnetizable material and causing closing forces for closing contacts and for connecting one of the contact elements with the other contact element by magnetic attraction. The contact holders are rotatably supported to each other in a connection direction around a rotational axis (a-a). The magnet elements are rotation-asymmetric to the rotational axis, and one of the contact holders is interpositioned in the other contact holder.
