<p>Provided is a direct projection type vehicular lighting equipment having a surface illuminant, which deflects and controls a direct ray coming from a lighting face (14A) acting as the surface illuminant, by means of a convex lens (12). The lighting face (14A) has a lower edge constituted of a first side (14A1) and a second side (14A2), which extend individually straight while making an obtuse angle inbetween in a front view of the equipment. The lighting face (14A) is arranged forward such that the point of intersection between the first side (14A1) and the second side (14A2) is positioned at a back focal point (F) of the convex lens (12), and such that the first side (14A1) is positioned in a horizontal plane containing an optical axis (Ax). Individually at first and second lens zones (12Z1 and 12Z2) of the convex lens, the beam from the lighting face (14A) is deflected and diffused in individual directions parallel to the first side (14A1) and the second side (14A2). The vehicular lighting equipment forms a light distribution pattern having horizontal and oblique cutoff lines at the upper end. The light distribution pattern can be made free for the luminous intensity distribution and hardly irregular on the road face forward of the vehicle.</p> |
