<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permit a user to sit on a sitting member and rest without straining the legs in an walking aid device with the sitting member 1 for the user P to sit on astride, a leg link 2 connected to the sitting member and having a joint portion 5 in the middle, and a driving source 9 driving the joint portion. <P>SOLUTION: The walking aid device has a locking mechanism 14 locking the joint portion 5 of the leg link 2, and an operating means 15 to operate the locking mechanism 14. When an operating switch 15a forming the operating means 15 is turned on, the driving source 9 is controlled so as to increase the jacking-up power of the sitting member 1 with the amount of descent of the sitting member 1 and the rate of change of the jacking-up power of the sitting member 1 with respect to the amount of descent of the sitting member 1 is controlled so as to increase over time.
