<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an AC power generating motor having a small non-exciting/non-loading induction voltage, capable of cutting down the cost by reducing the volume of a permanent magnet and improving the durability and generating a large starting torque. Ž<P>SOLUTION: When claw-like magnetic poles 18 and 19 are observed along the rotational direction of a rotor, the AC power generating motor is an AC rotary electric machine in which part of the projection shape of the permanent magnet 20 protrudes from a projection surface A formed of the adjacent claw-like magnetic poles 18 and 19 being mutually superimposed. The intersection of the corner part on the innermost diameter side of the permanent magnet 20 whose projection shape is a pentagon is present outside the region of the projection surface A and close to a side surface on the internal circumference side of a first rotor iron core or a second rotor iron core.
