<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dissolve stress of a customer waiting for his/her turn in checkout transactions. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A store clerk 103 faces a customer 102 in the state where a checkout counter 110 is sandwiched and performs the checkout transaction. The store clerk 103 takes a commodity 105 to be purchased by the customer 102, in his/her hand, conveys it along a carrying path 136, inputs a commodity code 119 by use of a commodity code input device 111 in a certain place along it, and performs settlement by use of a POS terminal 112. The customers 102 line up in a customer line 135 extending to the upstream side of the carrying path 136 in parallel therewith on the customer side of the checkout counter 110 so as to wait for his/her turn in the checkout transactions. An information display 113 is arranged further on the upstream side of the carrying path 136 from the commodity code input device 111. The customer 102 lining up in the customer line 135 sees display information of an advertisement or the like displayed on the information display 113 to be released from a situation that the customer 102 comes into the state where there is nothing to do while standing in the customer line 135.
