The method involves applying graphic data on/in a personalization document by a laser device with a value of a laser parameter. The brightness values of the applied graphic data are measured using an optical recording device. The measured brightness values are compared with reference brightness values. The differences between the measured brightness values and the reference brightness values are calculated. Another value of the laser parameter is calculated in dependent of the calculated difference values for new adjustment of the laser device. An independent claim is also included for a laser parameter adjustment controlling device comprising an unit for applying graphic data.
