PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal aligning agent capable of forming a liquid crystal alignment layer having high heat resistance and light stability, in particular, reducing the decrease of voltage holding rate even by light irradiation of high intensity under a high temperature environment, and having an excellent electrostatic leak property. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal aligning agent contains a specified polyorganosiloxane having 50-10,000 g/mol of epoxy equivalent, and 1,000-100,000 of weight-averaged molecular weight in terms of polystyrene measured by a gel-permeation chromatography.
