PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative ion and nanomist generator in which a good maintenance of a constant water level is carried out. SOLUTION: The generator comprises: a treatment chamber 15 through which open air passes by a blower 32; a water storage section 6 for storing a predetermined amount of water supplied from a water supply pipe 8 provided downstream of the treatment chamber 15 and provided with an automatic feed valve 7; a grinding bowl-shaped rotator 21 submerging its lower part in the water storage section 6 and expanding the diameter upward; a cylindrical porous body 26 positioned at the outer periphery of the rotator 21 and rotating together with the rotator 21, through the porous body air and water being splashed by the centrifugal force due to the rotation; and a water level sensor 34 for detecting the water level in the water storage section 6 and at least controlling the automatic feed valve 7 to maintain the water level of the water storage section 6 at a predetermined level. The generator is characterized in that since the water level sensor 34 is protected by a protective frame 37 not to be affected by the fluctuation of the water surface in the water storage section 6, no rippling of the water surface transmits to the water level sensor 34, and therefore the water level can always be detected accurately.
