PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an occupant protection device and an occupant protection method for suppressing an incorrect inflation of an airbag, without causing a delay in inflation or non-inflation of the airbag. SOLUTION: The occupant protection device includes a plurality of collision sensors 23 and 24. If one of the collision sensors 23 and 24 detects a signal value greater than a first determination threshold value I, and if in the occupant protection device 100 for inflating airbags 21 and 22 corresponding to the case where a non-inflation requirement is not satisfied, the airbags 21 and 22 other than airbags corresponding to the first collision sensors 23 and 24 that detect the signal value greater than the first determination threshold value I are inflated, or a collision is predicted by a collision prediction means 29, a determination of the non-inflation requirement of the airbags 21 and 22 corresponding to the first collision sensors 23 and 24 is invalidated.
