<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a two-photon dye for real-time monitoring of intracellular free zinc ions, a method for preparing the same and a method for real-time monitoring of intracellular free zinc ions using the same. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The two-photon dye for real-time monitoring of intracellular free zinc ions has a structure of formula (1): wherein R is H or OCH<SB>3</SB>. The two-photon dye has high selectivity for Zn<SP>2+</SP>and enables very effective and long-term monitoring of intracellular free Zn<SP>2+</SP>present in the deep tissue.
