A pixel drive section (102) is capable of performing first read out drive so as to turn off a transfer element by a drive signal (TG) and output a signal from an output node, and second read out drive so as to turn on the transfer element by the drive signal (TG), transfer a signal charge to the output node and output a signal from the output node.  The pixel signal read out sections (103, 104) output signals corresponding to a difference between the signal read out by the second read out drive and the signal read out by the first read out drive.
