The present invention concerns a pulse transmission method for pulse compression radar with which close-range shadow zone detection is possible. The pulse transmission method for pulse compression radar comprises a first pulse waveform transmission step with a modulated frequency for detecting long-range distances as prescribed cycles, and a second pulse waveform transmission step with a modulated frequency for detecting short-range distances in addition to the first pulse waveform; the pulse length of the second pulse waveform is shorter than the pulse length of the first pulse waveform; and the frequency band of the first pulse waveform and the frequency band of the second pulse waveform are constituted so that they differ in such a way that they can be distinguished as first and second pulse waveforms.  Accordingly, close-range shadow zone detection is rendered possible even with pulse compression radar having a high pulse duty factor, without producing a deterioration of resolution.
