DATA PROCESSING APPARATUS AND METHOD

PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for processing data are provided to minimize an amount of interleaver memories and deal with the change of the number of the subcarriers for transmitting the input data symbol between continuous symbols. CONSTITUTION: The number of subcarrier signals with regard to each OFDM symbol to transmit the input data symbol is varied between the input data symbol and the OFDM symbol. A data processor includes a controller, an address generator(102), and an interleaver memory. The controller reads out the input data symbol of the first set as the subcarrier signal of the even OFDM symbol from the interleaver memory using the read address from the address generator in the operation by the even interleaving process. The controller writes the input data symbol of the second set in the interleaver memory using the address from the address generator. The controller reads out the input data symbol of the first set as the subcarrier signal of the odd OFDM symbol from the interleaver memory using the read address determined by the sequence order of the input data symbol of the first set by the odd interleaving process.
