<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus preventing flaws on an image carrier by minimum necessary operation without adding the number of components of the apparatus and maintaining cleaning performance for a long period of time. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a rotatable brush roller 3a placed in contact with a rotating photoreceptor 1, always being in contact with a solid lubricant 3b and applying the lubricant onto the photoreceptor, and equipped with a cleaning device 8 using a blade for cleaning the photoreceptor 1. The image forming apparatus includes: a means for counting the area (pixels) of a formed image as well as counting the number of times of image formation; and a means for once stopping image formation when a cumulative value of image areas by a single continuous image formation operation reaches a predetermined value or more, on the condition that the ratio of the cumulative value to the number of times of single continuous image formation by the means for counting the number of time of image formation reaches a predetermined value or more. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
