PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article which is flexible and excellently fitted to skin, and has high strength against separation or break, etc., between members, and to provide an absorbent body holding cover. SOLUTION: The absorbent article includes: an external body with an outer layer sheet and an inner layer sheet, having a back side part to be arranged on the back side of a wearer when he/she wears, a belly side part to be arranged on the belly side, and a crotch part positioned between the back side part and the belly side part; and an absorbent body to be arranged on the wearer skin side from the belly side part to the back side part via the crotch part. The inner layer sheet and the outer layer sheet are intermittently joined in a length direction by a plurality of lines of first joint strings to be extended in a waistline direction concerning the flap part of the external body which is extended to the outer side of the belly or back side from the length direction end of the absorbent body. Elastic members are arranged at least partially between the respective strings of the plurality of lines of first joint strings. The flap part of the external body includes, on the front side, a reinforcing sheet which is joined via a plurality of lines of second joint strings to be extended in a direction being the same as that of the first joint part.
