The present invention is directed to a method and a system for operating a working machine (1) provided with a hydraulic system (140) and an operator control means (220) adapted to command actuation of the hydraulic system (140), which system comprises a first control unit (200) and a second control unit (141) for moving an implement (3) on the working machine (1) and/or for steering the working machine (1), wherein the method comprises the steps of: receiving first information regarding a status of the operator control means (220), and determining at least one hydraulic system control information based on the first information and sending said determined hydraulic system control information to a second control unit (141), which is adapted to control the hydraulic (system 140) accordingly.
