PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To speedily and accurately detect a peak wavelength by appropriately restricting the objects of peak detection operations, prior to the calculation of the peak wavelength by function approximation. SOLUTION: A digital operation part 20 for finding the peak wavelengthλP from sampling data (23) on rays of reflected light of a plurality of FBGs 19; holds a plurality of groups of parameters (24) including lower-limit wavelengthλL, upper-limit wavelengthλU, underside intensity IL, and upside intensity IU settable by an external controller 8; selects a wavelength section based on the values of the wavelength section parametersλL,λU (S12); excludes wavelengths less than the lower-limit wavelengthλL (S13); performs narrowing down into the range from a maximum value up to the upside intensity IU (S14, S15); and after the objects of peak detection operations are restricted in this way, the peak wavelengthλP is calculated by the function approximation (S16).
