<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for diagnosing a prognosis regarding the state of Alzheimer's disease in a mammal. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This invention relates to a method for diagnosing or providing a prognosis regarding the state of Alzheimer's disease in a mammal by bringing an ocular tissue into contact with a detectably labeled compound, which binds to an amyloid protein. An increase in binding of the compound thereto as compared with a normal control level of binding indicates that the mammal is suffering from or is at a risk of developing Alzheimer's disease.
