<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydraulic actuator of a belt type continuously variable transmission can secure smooth operation, superior in productivity, and can expect reduction in manufacturing cost. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This hydraulic actuator includes a first cylinder 21 arranged in a movable sheave 12, a drum 22 having a first drum part 23 for covering the first cylinder 21 and a second drum part 24 forming a plurality of projections 26 by fitting to a boss part 13 of the movable sheave 12, a first plunger 31 having a cylindrical part 33 suitable for the first cylinder 21 and the second drum part 24 and forming a first hydraulic chamber A, and a second plunger 35 fitted between the cylindrical part 33 and the fitted first cylinder 21 and forming a second hydraulic chamber B. An oil passage 30 is formed for communicating the first hydraulic chamber A with the second hydraulic chamber B by a clearance between the fitting second drum part 24 and the cylindrical part 33.
