The brake actuator has an electric motor (2) and a motion converter for converting the rotation of the motor into a linear movement of a hydraulic drive acting on a setting piston (1) for the brake. The movement converter has at least 2 setting elements driven by the electric motor, for independent operation of at least 2 hydraulic pistons (10,11), cooperating with a hydraulic chamber (21) coupled to a hydraulic fluid reservoir (18).
