<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell which reduces the contact resistance between a gas path and a gas diffusion layer. <P>SOLUTION: The fuel cell 10 is provided with an MEA 20, a gas diffusion layer 22 arranged in an electrode side of the MEA 20, and a gas path 16 prepared so as to sandwich the gas diffusion layer 22 between itself and the MEA 20. An irregularity form is formed in the gas diffusion layer 22 so that a contact area with the gas path 16 is made to increase at a contact area with the gas path 16.
