<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retardation film which can be manufactured with excellent productivity and with a low environmental load, and further to provide a laminated body, a polarizing plate, and an image display device that uses the retardation film. <P>SOLUTION: The target is attained by using the retardation film comprising a water soluble resin (A) satisfying the inequality: 1.00≤Re(450)/Re(550)≤1.05 and having positive orientation birefringence, and a water-soluble resin (B) having negative orientation birefringence.
