摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vertical alignment type liquid crystal display wherein a visual angle compensation film having a function similar to that of a C plate is formed in a liquid crystal cell and to provide a method for manufacturing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The vertical alignment type liquid crystal device includes a pair of substrates respectively having transparent substrates, transparent electrodes formed above the transparent substrates and vertical alignment layers formed to cover the transparent electrodes and opposed to each other so that the vertical alignment layers are located on the inner sides, a vertical alignment type liquid crystal layer interposed between the pair of substrates and having negative dielectric anisotropy, a visual angle compensation film disposed between the transparent substrate and the transparent electrode of at least one substrate of the pair of substrates and formed by using a material for an A plate to which a chiral material is added and a pair of polarizing plates which are disposed on the outer sides of the pair of substrates and whose polarization axes are disposed in a crossed Nicols state.
