PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a universal head configuration for mounting a plurality of cameras and a multiple camera system apparatus for controlling and operating the cameras in which a plurality of cameras are accurately positioned and easily operated although it was conventionally difficult to accurately determine a positional relationship of a plurality of cameras and to effectively utilize the plurality of cameras, and operation is facilitated while accurately maintaining the positional relationship of the plurality of cameras at all the time, and to provide a camera system including much higher level functions, using a plurality of cameras, such as for utilizing a plurality of images captured by the plurality of cameras, speedily accurately capturing a target object, grasping a positional relationship of the object and performing high-speed zoom focusing by performing control operation while accurately maintaining the positional relationship of the plurality of cameras. SOLUTION: In an electronic camera system composed of a plurality of cameras, the plurality of the cameras are mounted on a universal head controllable in a panning direction and a tilting direction, and the plurality of cameras are operable cooperatively with one another.
