PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chain saw having a user-friendly hook means for hanging down, which makes no encumbrance during being out of use. SOLUTION: In the chain saw comprising an engine, a housing 2 for housing the engine and a guide bar attached to the housing 2 so as to rotate a saw chain wound around the guide bar by the engine, the hook means slidingly movable to and fro is provided on the rear face of the housing 2. The hook means includes a fixing part (35a, 35b, 35c) fixed to the housing 2 and a moving part (20) slidingly movably attached to the fixing part. The fixing part includes a U-shape member 35 comprising two parallel arms (35a, 35b) extending from the housing and a connecting part (35c) connecting the rear end parts of the arms, while the moving part includes a hook 20 engaging with the U-shape member 35.
