<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chronograph timepiece of the mechanical-reset-to-zero type where active pointers of chronograph are rotationally driven electrically with principal driving pulse of a motor, capable of implementing efficiently rotationally driving of the active pointer of chronograph. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The chronograph timepiece 1, where active pointers of chronograph 14 and 15 are rotationally driven electrically with principal driving pulse U of a motor and controlled to reset-to-zero mechanically, while detecting unrotation whenever principal driving pulse U of a motor is output to drive active pointers of chronograph 14 and 15, includes unrotation detecting means 56 and 56a detecting whether the unrotation concerned of a rotor is unrotation due to mechanical regulation or unrotation due to increasing of load torque and driving/stopping controlling means 56, 59 and 53 controlling different driving or stopping, according to whether the unrotation detected by the unrotation detecting means 56 and 56a concerned is due to mechanical regulation or due to increasing of load torque.
