<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a joining method for and joined structure of metal members, which can improve the joining strength between an Fe-based metal member and an Al-based metal member. <P>SOLUTION: While feeding-out a Zn-based brazing filler metal 3 to a bevel shape 13 formed by an Fe-based metal member 1 and an Al-based metal member 2, the tip part of the Zn-based brazing filler metal 3 is irradiated with a laser beam 102. In the irradiation of the laser beam 102, the part to be joined in the Fe-based metal member 1 is heated at a temperature equal to or higher than the melting point of the Fe-based material. It is suitable that the central line of the laser beam 102 is located at the side of the Fe-based metal member 1 than the central line of the bevel shape 13. In this way, an intermetallic compound layer composed of an Al-Fe-Zn-based intermetallic compound essentially consisting of Al is formed at the boundary part between the Fe-based metal member 1 and a joining layer 4 composed of the Zn-based brazing filler metal 3. Since the intermetallic compound layer has high ductility, the joining strength between the Fe-based metal member 1 and the joining layer 4 can be increased. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
