<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct fluctuation of a projection screen position due to whether or not a converter lens 2 is used, without having to increase the size of the converter lens 2. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This video projector 1 includes a correcting mechanism 13. The correcting mechanism 13 corrects shifting of the projection screen position due to the insertion and retreating of the converter lens 2 to the optical path between a projection lens 12 and a screen SC by parallel movement of the projection lens 12 to a display surface 11a of a display element 11. This correction can be performed, by moving the projection lens 12 to preset first position A<SB>1</SB>corresponding to the inserted state of the converter lens 2 or second position A<SB>2</SB>, corresponding to the retreat state thereof.
