PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain balance between lightness of an ordinary image and that of a fluorescent image in an excellent state at all times, in a fluorescent image obtainment apparatus for obtaining the ordinary image and the fluorescent image by illuminating a body to be observed with illumination light and excitation light. SOLUTION: A white light source means is driven so as to continuously output white illumination light, and an excitation light source means is pulse-driven on the basis of a pulse signal so as to output pulsed excitation light. An image composed of light reflected from the body to be observed by illumination with the illumination light, and an image including fluorescence output from the body to be observed by illumination with the excitation light are captured. The ordinary image is produced on the basis of the image composed of the reflection light, and the fluorescent image is produced on the basis of the image including the fluorescence. The light amount of the illumination light is controlled so that the representative luminance value of the ordinary image becomes a predetermined luminance value, and the light amount of the excitation light is controlled by controlling the pulse signal so that the ratio of the light amount of the excitation light to the light amount of the illumination light becomes a preset ratio.
