<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signal processing method for separating signals to obtain a signal component and an artifact component if large artifacts such as movement of limbs, sobbing, shaking, and coughing are mixed in; and a pulse photometer using the same. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the signal processing method for separating a pulse wave signal and an artifact signal from two measuring signals extracted from the same medium, vectors of the two measuring signals are separated into pulse wave signal vectors and artifact signal vectors by a separation matrix according to a norm ratio in a stable section of the pulse wave signal and a successively-compensated norm ratio in an artifact section.
