PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chain saw with its engine fixed to its housing by a method excellent in oscillation characteristics. SOLUTION: An engine 50 is covered with a housing 2 over two opposed sides perpendicular to a shaft direction of a crankshaft 51 and is fixed by two bolts 31, 32 and two bolts 33, 34 respectively to first (upper) side and its opposite (lower) side. The chain saw excellent in oscillation characteristics is achieved by arranging the bolts 31-34 as follows: in projection view from one side, a line connecting two first side bolts 31, 32 and a line connecting two opposite side bolts 33, 34 intersect in a domain between a crankshaft and a crankcase and cylinder join line while the line connecting first side bolts and the line connecting opposite side bolts respectively intersect the elongation of the crankshaft.
