Stock detection and control system e.g. for food vending machine

The system holds a range of products (11) whose presence or absence is detected by one sensor (6,14,17,26) per product type. The stock level is monitored by the sensors and reported by a signal cable to a memory storage (8) unit. The stock levels are evaluated by a signal processing unit (10). Numerous detectors (126) are located along the storage surfaces, and the signals transferred to the signal processing unit by ribbon wire (23).
