PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for an auto light system of an automobile are provided to help a drive to get off a vehicle by controlling an external lighting and a room lamp by determining an external environment as day time and night time. CONSTITUTION: In a device, an operation and operation time of an interior and an external lighting are set by a user operation. An auto light sensor(2) distinguish day or night time through sensing illuminance. An approach monitoring unit(4) senses a FOB key(14) through a periodic wireless telecommunication. The active mode is set by touching the display unit. If a vehicle is parking, the FOB key is detected and weekly or the night time is determined through an auto light sensor. An external light is automatically turned on as much as set time in case night time.
